Do I Really NEED it?
Everyday, commercials are consistently played on the television, radio, internet, phones, and billboards. We are consumed with stuff that we need! For children, it’s toys… Then into teenage to young adulthood, it’s… clothing. For adults, it’s anything from a new car, new home, a new tool, make-up, jewelry, clothing, shoes, new furniture, carpeting… the list goes on and on. The bottom-line is... there is always something else that we supposebly need.
Reality is that We Don’t Necessarily “NEED” it. We would just like to “have” it. We all have faults with this! Just drive down a busy road. You can stop to get a drink or a quick snack or even a meal in just matter of minutes! Are you really that hungry? Can you not wait until you get home to have something to eat?
If you think about it, we all live in an “Instant Society” wanting “Instant Gratification” for everything. From food, clothing, entertainment, transportation, etc…
“We need it right at this exact time”! This is what advertising has taught us. “If we can’t pay for it in cash, we will just charge it”! “No second thoughts about it”! “It’s such a great deal”! “I can’t pass it up”! Do any of these sayings sound familiar?
So, this next week, when you go to the store to buy something, ask yourself if you are buying this item as a “need” or a “want”… Do I really have to have it?
Try to start changing your “Spending Habits”. It’s so easy to get carried away with your money. Stay grounded and have God be your focus.
Slow down and spend your money wisely.
