Fasting for Easter
I'm sure over the past few weeks you have heard the saying... "I'm fasting for the upcoming Easter Holiday". This is most common in the Catholic and Lutheran religions.
What is this exactly? It's giving up something that you Eat or Drink each day. For many people this could be chocolate or a special desert. Others take this to a more deeper level. They may give up bread, milk, or meat. Which is much harder to do since a lot of recipes and dishes call for these ingredients.
Fasting does not encourage you to stop eating all together. It's eating in a way that honors God. For example, giving up bread or milk for a few months prior to Easter; does not compare to all that Jesus Christ did for us on the cross, does it?
He gave it all... for us to have Everlasting Life in Heaven with Him!
